The word “lean” in manufacturing vocabulary means eliminating waste in all forms and concentrate on those activities that add value for the customer. The lean process enables everyone to realize exactly what is occurring during the process, both inside the individual firm and at the interfaces between the suppliers and customers. This process can be applied throughout the supply chain for greater benefits. ‘Lean” processing does not need any additional capital investment and reduces costs through the reduction of waste providing real dollar savings.
The vast majority of work environments have upwards of 60% of non-value added time and resources … in other words, waste. |
